How can you make the most out of parent-teacher conferences?

Talk with your child. Ask if she has any concerns. Think about what you want to learn from the conference and have some questions ready, such as, “Is my child performing at grade level in basic skills?   Can we together go over some examples of my child’s class work? Who are my child’s friends and how does she interact with others?” Be prepared to talk candidly and listen. Tell the teacher what you see at home.  Be sure to let the teacher know about anything that might affect your child’s learning.  Finally, follow up. Stay in touch with the teacher.
