Timberlake Christian Schools (TCS) was founded in 1966 by Timberlake Baptist Church and Dr. Elwood McQuaid, who was the pastor of the church at that time. TCS was “founded after many years of sincere concern on the part of Christian parents who felt a need to provide quality education in a constructive Christian environment,” according to Dr. McQuaid. The school was established as a non-profit, non-sectarian educational institution. Beginning with the nursery program, an additional grade was added yearly until it eventually reached twelfth grade. Its original location was at the church site on Timberlake Rd. which is the present day church site. In 1972, the need for more space prompted the church to acquire a 15-acre tract of land off of Waterlick Rd. (within two miles of the original campus) and construct a building that could house, at that time, grades one through five—475 students. Over the years, the church continued expanding the site to its current size with the completion of two phases of building programs which include a new cafeteria, kitchen and serving area, large school library, gymnatorium and three classrooms. These additions have increased the ability and capacity of TCS to serve the Christian community.

Timberlake Christian Schools, a ministry of Timberlake Baptist Church, is a private, coeducational, Christian school for students in preschool through grade twelve. Our philosophy is discipleship in nature, and our mission is to assist and serve Christian parents as they obey the command of God to train their children in truth.

Integral to our mission is a dedication to the development of Christian academic standards in our approximately 400 students enrolled currently. The curriculum is challenging and college preparatory in nature. The average student at Timberlake scored higher than 77% of all students taking the Stanford Achievement Test (edition 10) during the most recent testing.

We use a variety of textbooks, from both secular and Christian publishing companies. God’s Word is integrated into and informs all educational objectives. A minimum of 25 credits is required in grades 9-12 for an advanced diploma of graduation.

Teachers are qualified college graduates, committed to the goals of Christian education, and are certified by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). Many teachers also are licensed by the state of Virginia.

Our school facilities include air-conditioned, spacious classrooms, each equipped with a technology station to assist in teaching, science and computer labs, library, and a gymnasium as well as a Pre-K  playground area, an elementary playground area and athletic fields.

Timberlake Christian Schools is a member of and fully accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) as well as the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges (AdvanED).
